Introducing the Aird Cask Collective

Thursday, 8th May, 2025 Distillery, News, Whiskey

We are delighted to introduce Echlinville’s new private reserve cask programme, giving whiskey enthusiasts the opportunity to purchase their own cask of whiskey from Ireland’s first field-to-glass distillery.

The Aird Cask Collective – named after the ancient celtic name for the Ards Peninsula, where The Echlinville Distillery is located – offers individuals the opportunity to own one of just 100 private reserve casks to be filled this year.

Whiskey enthusiasts can choose from three unique mash bills – Echlinville Single Malt, Old Comber Pot Still or Old Comber Heritage Mash Bill, which is a recreation of the world famous whiskey produced 200 years ago at Comber Distilleries. While Comber Distilleries closed its doors in the 1950s, Echlinville has revived the iconic whiskey brand and we are now offering whiskey aficionados the opportunity to purchase their own cask of Old Comber spirit.

Aird Cask Collective, Echlinville Irish Whiskey Casks

Speaking about the Aird Cask Collective, Echlinville Distillery owner and founder Shane Braniff said:

“The Ards Peninsula has a strong whiskey heritage, grounded in area’s rich farmland and mild climate, which make this part of County Down one of the best barley growing regions in Ireland.

“From farms that supplied barley to distilleries and breweries all over Ireland, to the famous Old Comber Whiskey to the landmark Ards Maltings Company, the area is steeped in distilling history. Those pillars of local whiskey heritage are now together under our guardianship here at Echlinville, where we have built a reputation for creating exceptional Single Malt and Pot Still Irish Whiskeys, distilled from barley grown on our distillery farm.

“The Aird Cask Collective gives whiskey enthusiasts the opportunity to write their own chapter in our single estate whiskey story with their very own cask of Echlinville or Old Comber Whiskey.

“Every step of their whiskey’s journey, from harvesting and malting the barley, to mashing and fermenting the grains, to casking and maturing the spirit, and finally filling and labelling the bottles, will be completed right here at our farm distillery.

“The result will be your own bespoke bottling of a whiskey that is as unique in provenance as it is in flavour and character, crafted from the ground up here in Aird, the Ards Peninsula.”
